A public art project
(View our kickstarter campaign here)
SEE POTENTIAL is a public art project that will address one of the South Side of Chicago’s most pressing issues: the absence of affordable, healthy foods. In partnership with Orrin Williams, the founder and director of the Center for Urban Transformation (CUT) http://www.cutchicago.org/ I will use public art as a platform for transforming urban blight into community potential.
We will work with other artists, photographers, and community leaders to use large-scale photographic installations and urban redevelopment as strategies for pre-visualizing a transformed landscape. We hope to mobilize the community and redirect attention towards simple, holistic solutions that positively reframe individuals’ relationships with food and foster new forms of healthy living.
“In order to transform communities, you need to get rid of the vacancy. Only then can you change people’s ways of seeing and imagining their neighborhoods.”
-Orrin Williams, Founder & Director, Center for Urban Transformation
